It is important that you understand how to use the software before your drive crashes so that you don’t make the problem worse. Still, if there is a serious failure such as might happen with a fire or water damage, recovery may not be possible so it is always a wise idea to back up your files on a regular basis so as a last resort you will always be able to get your older files out of storage.
